Designed for travel and single-users, the Wireless Extenders YX300 zBoost zP Wireless Personal Booster amplifies cell phone signals to improve coverage for one room, with improved signal up to 6 feet away from the unit. The YX300 is ideal for single users in dorms, hotels, homes or offices, and it includes everything you need--window unit, antenna and power supply. There's no set-up--just put it in the window and plug it in. It works with most CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) and GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile) carriers in the United States (not compatible with Nextel phones).

Using a revolutionary, patent pending technology that protects the carrier network, the YX300 improves indoor cell phone coverage by capturing and repeating the outside signal, bringing it into the building and enhancing it. This process creates a "Cell Zone" in your home or office.

Improve your cell signal with the dual-band YX300--perfect for single users and for traveling.

With the YX300, you'll increase your indoor cell signal coverage for your workspace (4 to 6 feet) as well as decrease dropped or missed calls and help extend the battery life of your phone. The YX300 communicates with the cell phone tower from a small window-mount antenna which should be installed in a location with at least 1 bar of signal. This antenna is connected to the amplifier unit by a 20 foot cable.

  • No good.
The product i received was defected. It worked for a few minutes, but afterward the light was constantly red, even after multiple resets. I'm sure this YX-300 works, but maybe the one i got was just disfunctional.
  • Terrible support and spotty utility make this thing a waste of money for most.
I've had this unit for about a year. I will echo what many have said. If you leave your phone about six inches away from the antenna and use a headset, it will work. Sometimes.

Twice or three times a week I have to get up and go to the receiver (the green and white part that is at the other end of the room), unplug it and then plug it back in again, because there is some incomprehensible flashing LED that stops the unit from functioning. I don't know what that particular sequence of flashing lights means, except that they should have included a reset or on/off switch.

I called tech support when I first got the device to get an RMA for that issue and I was told by the technician that it was working as expected. In other words you bought a $150 paperweight and we don't want it back. As you can imagine, it was a less than satisfactory customer service experience.

Another thing I have noticed is that occasionally (when it is working) the additional bars do not translate into additional bandwidth or throughput like one would expect. Usually as your bars go up voice quality improves, and data speeds increase, but this does not always happen with this device. Your phone may show five bars, but you're still only getting 1.5 bars worth of service on both voice and data. This appears to be fairly transient in nature, and my guess is it reflects the signal strength the receiver is getting, when it dips below a certain point.

Bottom line buy it from a place you can return it, because chances are, unless you can use it in the manner described above, and can tolerate having to unplug it and plug it back in a few times a week, it will go back from whence it came.
  • I can now make calls in my apartment!!
    This product is AWESOME!

We have always had problems making calls from inside our apartment. We used to have to go outside to make and receive calls on our cell phones.

I unpacked the extender, used the suction cups to mount it to our sliding door, hooked up the antenna, plugged it in and voila! Cell signal strength is instantly better. No more dropped calls because of weak signals, I can send and receive texts from the couch!

I highly recommend this product if you are in a similar situation.

Note: this device does not create signal, it just amplifies it, so you have to pull at least one bar to get it to work -- so since we could use our phones on the balcony but not in the apartment, this device was *perfect* for our use case.
  • Doesn't work very well.
Bought this because it said if you had a signal in your window it would enhance and extend it inside via the antenna which I did. I played with it for almost a month trying different rooms and windows and finally gave up. Finding a good place for it is almost impossible in a house because that means booster in one rooms window and antenna cable strung to another room.If the booster see's the antenna it will kick it out requireing frequent resets so they can't be in same room together!. Just not worth the money, I resold it already on ebay to recoup some of my wasted money. Also this comes with almost no direction on how to properly install and operate. What little I got was from the internet from someone else who tried to make this thing work. Just a piece of crap.
  • Does not work
The unit I received contained no instructions; no problem go online to company site to get them. Easy to install put the unit near window or anywhere you have service (at least one bar) then put the antenna at least ten feet away. The antenna cable is only 20' so it is difficult to go further than that unless you are going to have cable in front of you, then the next problem is that you can not have the cell phone near the unit so in my 15' x 12' office I could not move the unit and antenna around so that I could get a green light as you also have to have phone within 6' of antenna. Gave up after an hour of moving all over only to get a green light for a few moments then back to red. Did nothing to improve signal since I could not get a green light, presumably this would have indicated that I have a signal that my cell phone then would pickup. I may try the other four person Sprint device the company has?
