  • Amazon.com Product Description
Designed for travel and single-users, the Wireless Extenders YX300 zBoost zP Wireless Personal Booster amplifies cell phone signals to improve coverage for one room, with improved signal up to 6 feet away from the unit. The YX300 is ideal for single users in dorms, hotels, homes or offices, and it includes everything you need--window unit, antenna and power supply. There's no set-up--just put it in the window and plug it in. It works with most CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) and GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile) carriers in the United States (not compatible with Nextel phones).

Using a revolutionary, patent pending technology that protects the carrier network, the YX300 improves indoor cell phone coverage by capturing and repeating the outside signal, bringing it into the building and enhancing it. This process creates a "Cell Zone" in your home or office.

Improve your cell signal with the dual-band YX300--perfect for single users and for traveling.

With the YX300, you'll increase your indoor cell signal coverage for your workspace (4 to 6 feet) as well as decrease dropped or missed calls and help extend the battery life of your phone. The YX300 communicates with the cell phone tower from a small window-mount antenna which should be installed in a location with at least 1 bar of signal. This antenna is connected to the amplifier unit by a 20 foot cable.

  • Works perfectly
I live in a high rise apartment complex that is shaped like the letter 'U'. Unfortunately, my room is in the inside of that U, and my phone would only get a signal if I stood up right in the window. Even that wasn't a good signal, and resulted in dropped calls or just missed calls a lot of the time. Then, I did some research and came across this product. I was a bit skeptical of it due to the semi-poor reviews on Amazon, but bought it anyways cause it's only 50 dollars and could just return it. Luckily, the product is great! I stuck the receiver on my window, plugged it in, and set the antenna up on the wall near my desk. My phone went from 0-1 bars to 3-4. Calls and texts are coming in clearly! This is great. Just make sure you place the receiver in a place that at least gets 1 bar and you'll be fine!
  • YX-300 Verizon Cellular Broadband Bonnection
    YX-300
I live on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. My internet options are Dial up, Satellite, Verizon or Sprint and only these two networks can receive cellular reception here ( no AT&T here!). I have Verizon and use my cell phone (HTC Imagio) as my connection (we won't go into how it is connected) . I can get a decent 3 bars outside the house on the north side. Inside the house down stairs my reception is sporadic, might get 2 bars if near a window, in the middle of the house the bars go in and out.
I wanted to know if this would actually work, I did not want to pay $279 for the YX-Y10 to find it does not work. But now I am considering purchasing the YX-Y10 model.
My concern is more broadband connection speed and integrity. Placed strategically in that sweet spot in the evening my connection speed before this device was maybe, 0.75 Mbps, every now and again it might jump to 1.5Mbps.
With the YX-300 zBoost and some extensive testing (moving it around to different locations), I am now consistently averaging 1.5Mbps. I have gotten as high as 4.5Mbps download. This increase is worth the $49 I paid. (And hey 1.5 Mbps download is Comcast cheap broadband plan, or the special 6 months for $39.99 deal)
The claim of 4 to 6 feet area of coverage, which might be true, my phone next to the antenna I get all bars, 4 feet away I get 3 bars. I have ordered an omini directional antenna to replace the antenna it comes with, I wonder if that could extend the signal beyond 4 feet?

If the antenna worked up to 4-6 feet, I would give it 5 stars. I usually leave my phone next to the antenna.
  • Does the job but not all the time
Have a basement home office with windows. ATT wireless connection went from zero to 3 to 5 bars. Huge improvement! However, for reasons I cannot explain, sometimes I lose reception again and have to wait a few seconds to get it back. Very short range, so be careful with your room layout.
  • Works okay if you can find a signal and get it to keep it
We put this on our window to improve reception in our apartment, it helped slightly but not that much. I think it had a hard time keeping the signal because the signal was still pretty weak by the window. When we moved apartments that had even worse reception, this didn't help at all. My suggestion is only get this if you have a spot where you get a strong signal and need to extend it.
  • Don't buy this product
Do not waste your time or money on this gadget. I purchased this hoping to increase my cell phone network coverage in my home office. I have 1-2 bars... when I plug the in the extender it does nothing! The light blinks red non-stop and does not increase my signal strength. If I could return it, I would.
I just purchased the verizon network extender and it works perfectly.
