- Really increases battery life
I upgraded from the 6-cell battery only after receiving about 2.5-3 hours of Active use. Now I can get about 4.5-6 hours of medium to heavy use, which is clearly wonderful. Only a slight increase in the total weight of my laptop (which is admittedly already on the heavier end). I would recommend everyone get the extra battery life and see no downside other than price (which has come down as of this writing). - Quickly Received a Lenovo Battery that Works
This worked out quite well. I ended up ordering from Vema Electronics (through Amazon, of course) and I received exactly what was advertised. That is, I got a 9 cell Lenovo lithium-ion battery that so far works very well and fits my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 15" widescreen perfectly. Not only that, but I also got free shipping and it arrived within three days of ordering even though they told it me it would take seven more days than that. Well, I'm not complaining... - No complaints, other than slightly slower shipping!
The product is not as advertised, its definitely not OEM. But upon further review of all the options given under new, I found and selected Origin Micro after checking in their website for information pertaining to whether the Battery was OEM and/their return policies!
They sent me the OEM (though it is about $10 higher in price than this one) not a third party battery and came well packed and well tracked! The recommendations were spot-on! It was among the lesser price for an OEM 9v battery that I saw!
Only minor compliant is the really slow shipping, but I was in no rush, so its all ok!
I am giving this 3stars because if you do dig in you can find an OEM among the merchants listed there, but if I just had to rate this one, I would probably rate this a zero or 1, because it appears as a classic bait and switch!
- bad product, bad seller
Apparently there is a subtle distinction between the battery (which has the same part number) used for a T60 and a T61. I could not find the use of the T60 in the information on the battery. It will not work for us. I tried contacting the seller and after several days, got back a message. I tried again explaining the issue and was told they did not have the type needed for a T60. I asked for instructions on how to return a brand new battery and never heard from the seller again.
Very bad service, bad add.

704 365 7311 - Genuine OEM 9 cell battery for T61P
Buying a genuine Lenovo battery at a great price was a bit more complicated than I thought. Whether to buy a genuine battery or a generic third-party battery at a lower price is completely a personal choice. But, I didn't want to see the ugly message from Lenovo battery manager software reminding me that it is not a genuine battery. In addition, I wanted to avoid even the slightest chance of overheat or some other potential problems that might be caused by generic batteries.
Given my preference, I ordered one from an Amazon third-party seller at almost a half the Amazon list price. However, what arrived is a counterfeit product, which looks exactly like the genuine one. But, Lenovo battery manager did not recognize it as a genuine battery and kept showing the irritating message. After my inspection, I found more evidence that confirms my initial suspicion: e.g. inconsistent product numbers among the label, the barcode, and the battery manager software. Its temperature rose rather quickly. So, I returned the product for refund.
Then, I tried another third-party Amazon seller, Origin Micro, at a great price (cheaper than the current posted price) based on positive reviews. Fortunately, I received a genuine Lenovo replacement battery. My T61p uses more power due to a discrete graphic chip than T61, but the new battery can hold up more than 5 hours with both wireless and bluetooth on. This is more than I expected, and I'm happy with its performance. I didn't give five stars because the battery's full capacity seems to deteriorate rather quickly: the full capacity went down to 99% of its original capacity in two weeks. Well, this is not bad at all because my original 6-cell battery lost 50% of its original capacity in 15 months. I assume Lenovo battery was designed that way and expect to buy another one in a year or so. Overall, this is a reasonably good battery for my hard-working T61P.
