    The Plantronics lightweight headset is designed to free your hands while you drive or work with a wireless phone. Though the unit's noise-canceling microphone makes it especially suitable for calls placed over a cell phone, it's also appropriate for use with traditional office phones.

    Recipients of our phone calls reported no annoying disturbances or distortions during conversation, and audio quality on our end was clear as well, if a bit muffled. The headset works best on phones that feature good volume controls, because the microphone adjust switch raises and lowers the volume in a very narrow range.

    The M175 also has the nifty feature of converting from a headband to an over-the-ear-style headset. Unfortunately, this also makes for a somewhat flimsy construction. Pieces immediately began falling off the unit as soon as we removed it from its packaging, though snapping the components back in place took little effort.

  • nice 2.5 mm headset
    I needed a replacement headset for a cordless phone. This has an over the head and over the ear options. This is working perfectly.
  • Great headset!
    I've been using one of these for years! I replace it with a new one when the old one wears out. The mic is always strong enough to pick up my voice, and I never have complaints about people not being able to hear me. The ear-pad is comfy, and I occasionally forget I have this on. The best part is the adjustable amplifier - if I have distortion from the sound out of my cell phone, I can increase or decrease both the output from the cell phone itself and the amplifier on the headset, and I usually can maximize the sound and minimize distortion. I don't have to hold anything with my hand to get the conversation through.
  • Loved it while it worked
    I teach online and spend a lot of time on the phone with my students. It's comfortable, the volume was great on both ends, and I hadn't had any problems with it. I have used this headset every day for seven months, but yesterday, it just stopped working in the middle of a phone call and my student couldn't hear a word I said until I unplugged the headset and just used the phone itself. I have tried it again a few times since that phone call and it's still not working. Trust me, I've made sure that I didn't turn the mic off by accident or that there wasn't some other volume control that had been flipped inadvertently. I've always gotten high-quality products from Plantronics, so I was surprised it had such a short life. Disappointing!
  • Headset for multiple uses
    This is a decent quality headset and sound quality from the ear piece is standard Plantronics quality (i.e. very good). The 2.5mm jack means it won't fit on some mobile phones (this is smaller than a standard headphone jack), but for my Blackberry it's great (both 8820 and Pearl). As a bonus, I also use it with my XBOX 360 controllers (both with the attached messenger keyboard and without) for online gaming. Some people have observed that I sound a little distant with this headset while plugged into the wireless XBOX controller, but repositioning the mic to be as close to my mouth as possible fixes it.

    There is an adjustable mic sensitivity switch on the plug, but this doesn't seem to make any difference to people at the far end of the conversation.

    It's held up quite well over the past few years, being stuffed in bags and traveling around. It's not as cool as the wireless headsets (bluetooth etc) but it doesn't take batteries, doesn't have to be recharged and isn't subject to interference. I'll buy it again if/when this one finally dies.

    Good sound quality. Good price. Convenient in-line mute, mic and earpiece volume controls. Versatile. Will get uncomfortable for all-day users. IMO better than similar Panasonic (with the silly foam covered boom mic).
