I love the callpod chargepod, which is a round hub with 6 "spokes" of chargers sticking out of it. I have not found a single one my my rechargable electronics for which there is no callpod adapter. I felt that the default adapter's included with the callpod were not the best choice. So before purchasing a callpod make sure you count the cost of all of the spokes that you will purchase; they usually will cost you between seven and ten bucks apiece. But for me that is worth it. So this version of the callpod allowing you to purchase just the base and then purchase adapter's separately is the best route to go in my opinion.
My life is a tangle of cords and the callpod chargepod works to fix that. I keep my six devices (usually two blackberries, an ipod, two bluetooth headsets, and an Amazon Kindle) charging in a self-contained circle without cords going everywhere and without the use of a powerstrip. Then when I travel, I can connect those same device to the car charger using the car power adapter. And in a hotel room, I can charge all my devices (including any that charge via usb using the usb adapter) without bringing tons of cords. The callpod is an expensive, yet for many, worthwhile accessory for your portable electronics. - Uses Proprietary cables
it uses proprietary cables so you need to buy one for each product. Buy a cheap USB expander. The product is of poor design. returned it - G R E A T
Excellent device. Cannot tell you the number of friends who've seen this device on my desk and asked what it was and where they could get one. Brilliant idea - remove all the various power cords and competiting demand for desk space/wall sockets/surge protector and have ONE power cord. Surprised it took someone this long to think of it.
Recommendation for future editions (if anyone from Callpod is listening): Be environmentally/cost conscious, and have a timed shut off switch. Most cell phones/Blackberries/iPods will charge up in 2-4 hours, but unless you unplug each device from each cord, or unplug the Pod altogether, it sits there for hours/days at a time, sucking up energy for no reason. Plus, some batteries suffer from extended charging. - Callpod idea is brilliant
I bought a base unit that came with a bunch adaptors as an Xmas present for my husband (and myself too!) and loved it so much that I got another one for travel. It's well-designed, easy to use, and the second one that I bought, I got without all the "starter" adaptors - I just got exactly what I needed. So just be certain of what types of plugs you've got, and you'll be fine. Great idea - who DOESN'T need this!
